After the Incident John manages to avoid going back to Earth for five more weeks. After all, he's not the only person who can fly a puddle jumper. And now that there's the gate bridge, it's a snap to go get a load of something whenever you need it. They've been back in Atlantis five weeks before he runs out of reasons why he can't go.
When people ask how he met his wife, he says they exchanged cultural information at a diplomatic event. He does not mention that she beat him at logic (twice), or that afterward, they took off their clothes.
